About the CEEF
What is the impact on environmental issues?
Protecting the environment is a key aspect of the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund.
With carbon dioxide and other “greenhouse gases” emitted during the generation of electricity and linked to potential global warming and climate change, any measures to reduce the hours of power plant operation can result in mitigating these gases In fact, energy efficiency programs in place have already significantly reduced two air pollutants, sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides leading to improved air quality. And efficiency measures implemented in 2004 resulted in the reduction of pollutant emissions by 415 tons per year.

Installing dimmers or occupancy sensors where appropriate lowers energy use in copy rooms, restrooms, offices and meeting rooms; spaces which are only occupied on a periodic basis.
